Pheasant’s Tears Wines | Georgian Natural & Qvevri Wines

Pheasant’s Tears is a pioneering Georgian winery based in the village of Tibaani in Kakheti, a region often called the birthplace of wine. Founded by John Wurdeman and Gela Patalishvili, the project is dedicated to reviving and celebrating Georgia’s ancient winemaking traditions and extraordinary biodiversity of indigenous grapes. Farming organically across diverse vineyard sites, they work with rare varieties like Rkatsiteli, Saperavi, and Tsolikouri-many of which were once nearly lost. In the cellar, grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with native yeasts, often in traditional underground qvevri, with extended skin contact and minimal intervention. The result is a collection of deeply expressive wines that reflect Georgia’s rich history, unique terroirs, and a philosophy rooted in authenticity and respect for the land.
