Winemaker's Notes:

Single vineyard. The secret is in the stems on this beauty. We whole cluster press 100% of the fruit from this hillside vineyard site that sits on red volcanic soils. That means we get all of the herbaceous and black tea and white pepper goodness for the low low price of one bottle of Syrah. Who’da thunk! The stems add a textural component to the wine, pairing a medium-bodied red, with just the right amount of well-balanced tannin structure, with the inherently savory side of Syrah.

This wine is carrying dark fruit notes yet is lighter on its feet. Think very cherry jelly bellies and Santa Rosa plums.When the fruit came into the winery, we foot stomped and then set it aside for a few days. It can be a bit challenging to crush up everything at the bottom, so there’s naturally a little sneaky bit of “carbonicness” happening at the bottom of the bins. Can we say juicy fruit, anyone?
